Brief Answer:
Treatment on clinical evaluation and examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Please provide a few details so that I can co-ordinate well.
- Since when have you got this pain?
- Any associated symptoms of nausea, vomiting, bloating, fever, chills?
- Any associated medical conditions?
- What is the type of pain? dull achy, sharp, spasmodic or so?
- Any other information that you would like to share.

To recapitulate: Female/69 -constant pain in the lower abdomen - consulted a Doctor - scheduled a sonogram - used antacid but does not help - Wants to know what can you do till the test is done...

I would advise you the following:
- Start antispasmodic or painkiller regularly till you get the test.
- Depending upon the other symptoms, clinical evaluation and examination by your Doctor the specific medicines on the basis of clinical evaluation, which I am sure your Doctor must have started on. Please mention the medicines He/She has given you since you have visited the Doctor.
- Additional tests of blood, urine and stools.
- X-ray of the abdomen in standing position.
- Any other tests as required for further evaluation if no relief- like CT scan of the whole abdomen ans so on.

I hope this answer helps you, please provide feedback also.

Brief Answer:
Investigations ASAP

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Noted your history diverticulitis and hospitalization in August after heavy bleeding, now the pain started about a week ago and there is nausea after eating. The pain is dull, sometimes sharp in lower abdomen on center and left side.

The history increases the suspicion of diverticulits causing the similar problems as you are a known case and diverticuli remain in the place only.

CT scan is better investigations than ultrasonography.
Tests of blood, urine and stool give an additional idea.
And give a chance to start a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotic, symptomatic and supportive treatment if there is an evidence of infection in any of the tests.
Please discuss this with your Doctor to get these done as you are suffering for a week, late investigations and treatment can cause complications.

I hope this answer helps you.
