What Causes Back Pain Post Angioplasty Procedure?

default
Posted on Thu, 31 Jul 2014
Question: I have a health question. I was released from the hospital a week ago after a angioplasty procedure
for the most part I have not felt terrible.....but starting last night I started to have back pain.
then right now I feel lightheaded and still have the back pain. My concern is that there may be issue with stent and could this be heart attached signs or are these some of the things I may feel after the procedure

Brief Answer:
Concern if light headedness for more than 30 mins

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read your query in detail.
It does not look like an issue with the stent. If the lightheadedness is persisting for more than 30 minutes then you should be consulting your doctor immediately. Please do not neglect it.

The symptoms of back pain and light headedness are experienced by many people after stenting and in some patients it may be due to the medications. Some of the medications given for the heart can cause muscle spasm and light headedness in some patients but this needs to be discussed with your doctors.

It is important to know if you have undergone an emergency angioplasty or a planned one. While after a planned angioplasty the patient may resume daily activities in a week after the procedure, a few weeks of rest is recommended after an emergency angioplasty.

I do hope your doctor has discussed the recovery period in your case and you have allowed sufficient rest for yourself.

Wishing you good health.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
