Brief Answer:
Aleve can't be used forever

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

nexium should not be your main concern. Aleve is the most dangerous drug if used for many consecutive days because it may cause damage to the kidneys, stomach, liver, increase blood pressure, etc
Rapaflo helps with urination when an enlarged prostate causes trouble and ambien helps induce sleep.
The rest of the drugs are very commonly used in patients with cardiovascular conditions (like arterial hypertension, hyperlipidemia etc).

I hope you find my answer helpful!

thanks for the info on alive - is there anything you recommend instead for joint pain (he used to be on naproxin).
why should i not be concerned about the use of nexium on a steady basis.
my general concern is that he is taking too many drugs.
what do you think?
thanks very much.

Brief Answer:
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) should be prefered

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs cause the side-effects I've described in my previous answer and should be used only to relieve pain that can't be managed otherwise.
Prefer paracetamol (acetaminophen) as your first choice, which is much safer if used properly. It's not as effective as any NSAID but it won't cause as many side-effects as the NSAID.

Nexium can be used for long time periods without serious problems, although side-effects cannot be predicted for any specific individual.
For example patients with gastro-esophageal reflux disease may use such drugs for life.

I do not believe that he's taking too many drugs. I could verify that many patients use many more drugs (antihypertensive, antidiabetic drugs etc) and they rarely get significant side effects requiring treatment regimen modifications.

The real question is if he needs to use them. This is something you have to discuss with the prescribing doctor.

I'll be glad to answer any further questions, you may have.

Kind Regards!
