What Are The Chances Of STD Transmission Through Protected Sex?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 May 2015
Question: Hi, I'm a 23 year old male. So last week I had protected sex with a woman, I don't know this woman's sexual history so I'm a bit concerned.
Over the last 7 days I haven't felt quite right, I've felt light headed and tired, had a few flu like symptoms a couple days after it happened, and today I've had back pain on the left side and chest pain on the right side. I also had a burning sensation on my penis a couple of days after it happened, but that has now eased since then.
I know I should go get tested, I was just wondering if it sounds like I've caught something and what should I get tested for exactly, when should I get tested also. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely due to STDs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic. I have gone through the details.

If the intercourse is protected then the chances of STDs is nil.
The flu like symptoms may be due to respiratory contact with the person or any individual.
They are non specific and not due to HIV.

The other symptoms may be due to anxiety or stress.
Drink plenty of water and fluids.
Do not over clean or use harsh soaps for penis.
Clean area with warm water twice daily.
So just relax.
You can go for STDs test if you develop any specific symptoms (like discharge, genital rash ). Or as a routine after 3 months.

You can get back for any clarification.

Thanks for your response, adds some peace of mind. Should I continue to use Ibuprofen to ease the pain on my muscles and try to take away the light headed feeling?

Hi, since we spoke yesterday I've got a few concerns. I've started to have what seems to be a rash on my anus, during the day it seems to be quite painful, but at night it seems to ease a bit. I still feel light headed and have a bit of upper back pain. I was just wondering is it possible to have contracted herpes even after protected sex? Could have there been some skin to skin contact where it could have been passed over? Thanks.

I think I've uploaded a picture of it. It's the first time I've seen it and it looks more like a pus than an actual rash. It doesn't itch at all, it's just an uncomfortable pain. I'm quite concerned and considering seeing my GP to see if they can recommend something. Any information or input would be appreciated. I can take another photo if this one is no good.

I've managed to get a clearer photo for you (sorry to put you through this lol) the pain isn't as bad at the moment and is tolerable. I'm still going to get it checked out on Monday, I just wanted to see if this clearer photo helped you with diagnosing it better. Thanks for any input.

There is redness in the area with infection. It does not appear to be due to herpes.
You can use stool softeners.
Do not cause friction or irritation.

Ok thank you.
The light headed, tired, dizzy feeling that I've been having as well. Do you think this is due to anxiety/stress or could be to do with the infection I have? I've been drinking plenty of water and having ibuprofen to take away any pain but the light headed feeling remains.
