Brief Answer: Chances of lung cancer is very less Detailed Answer: HI Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query. The percentages of lung cancer estimated to be caused by tobacco smoking in females is 78% and in non smoker between 1 to 10%. If you do not smoke and has no family history of lung cancer, then chances are very less. In your case, i would suggest that you should consult a psychiatrist. You may have underline hypochondriasis or depression. You need few antidepressant to decrease these thoughts. Adderall is stimulant and that would increase anxiety symptoms. Better to avoid it. In case, you need further help, you can ask. Regards Dr. Abhishek Kapoor Psychiatrist

Brief Answer: 80 to 90% chances of cancer in heavy smoker Detailed Answer: Hi In last query, you did not mention about smoking, that why, i kept possibility of underline psychological problem. If you are a heavy smoker, then chances of getting lung cancer is very high. It depends upon duration of smoking and number of cigarettes you smoke in a day. If you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day for last 10 years, then chances of getting lung cancer is 80 to 90%. Better to get yourself thoroughly investigated. If you quit smoking today, it would take 10 years to get healthy lung. Better to quit smoking as early as possible. You can use nicotine replacement therapy in form of nicotine gel, patch or chewing gums to control withdrawal or craving. In case, you have more query, you can ask. Brief Answer: Go for spiral CT scan as a screening test Detailed Answer: HI Several lung cancer screening methods being studied include tests of sputum (mucus brought up from the lungs by coughing), chest x-rays, and spiral (helical) CT scans. Currently neither chest x-rays or sputum tests have been shown to be effective screening methods. However, screening with low-dose spiral CT scan has been shown to decrease the risk of dying from lung cancer in heavy smokers. Better to go for spiral CT scan. Pain in ribs may be due to some inflammation. For that, you can take some pain killer and it would improve. Breathlessness is sign of lung deterioration, that means, time has come to take serious step to quit smoking. Screening in your case just tell you bout underline pathology, but main treatment is quit smoking. Back pain may be due to heavy weight. In that case, try to reduce weight by daily evening or morning walk with dietary control. In case, you have more query, you can ask. Regards Dr. Abhishek Kapoor Psychiatrist

Brief Answer: Later there is possibility to have cancer Detailed Answer: HI Lung cancer may not produce any noticeable symptoms in the early stages. In approximately 40 percent of people diagnosed with lung cancer, the diagnosis is made after the disease has advanced. In one third of those diagnosed, the cancer has reached stage 3. The signs and symptoms include sustain cough, Shortness of breath, pain in the chest, shoulder, or back area, a wheezing or whistling sound when you breathe, hoarseness of voice, weight loss, headache etc. You have few sign and symptoms that go towards lung cancer, but in screening test x -rays are normal. In that case, go for low dose spiral CT scan. Today, may be you do not have any cancer, but later it is possible. No one can say when it could happen, but there are chances.
