Question: I have recently changed food habits and have started eating grilled chicken once in a week for last 6 Months and recently for an ankle injury have been advised by doctor to take mashyne sachet with milk once in a week. Now I feel iam having more energy always.I recently had a blood test before 2 days.It showed that MPV count is 40 for me whereas the usual volume is 7-11 .Other than that all he tests were normal .Is this associated with any problem that needs to taken care immediately .I read in one of the blogs that this can be due to HIV but i tested for HIV also and it was negative .What needs to be done at this point Even my weight has increased by 4 kg in the last 3 months .It may be due to change in diet like eating more non veg and grilled chicken but high value of MPV is making me to worry .Please guide

Brief Answer: A physician review with reporta Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to healthcare Magic! Mashyne is vitamin D supplement and should be taken under clinical supervision for deficiency states. The MPV value is alarmingly high in your case. This value is part of complete blood counts and reflects increased size of platelets which is commonly seen in excessive destruction and excessive formation of platelets or myelodysplastic disorder. You should get a Blood smear, bone marrow and a physician or hematologist referral. It seems some thing other than the dietary change or ankle injury treatment is causing this. A review with referral is advised. I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you. Take Care!

Brief Answer: mostly such problems are asymptomatic Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Welcome back. The platelets disorders are typically asymptomatic and many of us may have them silently resolved if they happen due to transient immune fallacies or viral triggers. But they may lead to catastrophe if they progress and lead to serious bleed in brain or gut which is common in coagulopathies of viral or blood malignancies. So it is important to get the advised work up rather than waiting for symptoms. I hope the advise will be helpful for you.
