Brief Answer:
There is need to treat stress and anxiety.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

I appreciate your efforts for medical consultation in so much distress.

Every person have stress in routine professional life. Even some degree of stress necessary to do things which is called Eustress. As you are having excessive perceived stress which is affecting your personal and professional life, in such case there is need to rule out anxiety disorder (Like social anxiety, generalised anxiety, phobias or OCD) in your case.

Anxiety problem affect 5-10% of the population. It is very common to leave job by anxious person, but it is not solution of the problem. Better is to seek management of anxiety.

Other symptoms of anxiety which may or may not be present in your case: nervousness, restlessness, mild irritability, excessive worry regarding own health/family/finance, tremor, muscle spasm, heaviness in body, body pain, easy fatigability, headache, sleep disturbance, palpitation and dry mouth.

There is need for treatment, if symptoms cause significant personal distress or affect personal/professional life. Both drug and non drug treatment like cognitive behaviour therapy (form of psychotherapy) are used for treatment. Choice of treatment depends on severity of symptoms, personal preference and availability of treatment.

In drug treatment two types of medicine used. For immediate relief of anxiety benzodiazepines group of medicines are used and for long term relief most commonly SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are used. SSRI takes around 3-4 weeks to show its effect. Non drug treatment like cognitive behaviour therapy (form of psychotherapy) also takes weeks to show its effect.

All these process is complex. I have simplified it to make you understand it. For treatment you need to meet nearby psychiatrist personally.

Apart from above advice following simple measures will help you:
-Decrease worrying by keeping yourself busy and distracted from worrisome thoughts by talking to family members or watching T.V. or counting back (100 to 0).
-Use problem solving in job: Like dividing complex problem in multiple small parts, writing multiple solutions for each small part of problem, choosing best solutions from the multiple solutions and implementing the solution.
-Daily morning walk
-Breathing exercise, yoga and meditation (which you can learn from some expert in person)
-Detection and correction of vitamin deficiency (especially vitamin B12): so take vitamin supplement and fruits/milk in diet.
-Screening of thyroid dysfunction: Get serum T3/T4 and TSH level done

I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Wishing her good health.
Regards
