Brief Answer:
depends. please post details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
If the urachal cyst is suspected during hernia surgery, following are the options and decision depends upon many other factors:
Urachal cyst at 68 means an incidental finding as it is asymptomatic till the age of 68 and can be left as it is.
This also depends upon the hernia surgery was open or laparoscopic.
If this can be easily removed without any foreseeable complications, it may be excised in-toto and sent for biopsy.

Please me the details for me to assist you better:
Was the surgery open one or laparoscopic?
Please post details about surgery, opinion of the surgeon as was explained.
Any complications that occurred?
Any other details for me to assist you better.

Laproscipic surgery. How doies one know if the mass is a urachal cyst or sometrhing else. The surgen encountered adhesions that made dissection of the hernia sac difficult.

thank you

Brief Answer:
As explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Any cyst or mass in line joining the umbilicus to urinary bladder is most probably an urachal cyst.
Secondly the visual impression as seen before by the Surgeon by his experience can help to know whether this is urachal cyst.
