Suggest Treatment For Swollen Scrotum Post Gall Bladder Removal

Question: My dad is two weeks post laparoscopic gall bladder removal. He had complications in which bile was leaking into his abdominal cavity. 6 days later the surgeon drained the site and sent him home. 23 days later the fluid reappeared in CT. The bile was again drained and the drain left in place. The next day the docs placed a biliary stent to direct the fiow. Today, 3days after that endoscopy procedure, he is noticing that his scrotum is swollen to approximately twice the normal size. Should we be concerned? Seek medical attention?

Brief Answer:
It could be due to fluid collection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
The procedures done are not related to scrotal swelling.
You can consult your doctor and get an Ultrasound of the abdomen and scrotum.
It is due to fluid collection.
Sometimes, scrotal edema can be due to generalised edema.
Depending on the Ultrasound report, further investigations are to be done.
Nothing to worry.
It will come down.
Please consult your doctor and get checked.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish him good health.

Thank you for your response. Wanted to confirm that we shouldn't worry about bike leakage into the scrotum.

Brief Answer:
He should be investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, Stent has been placed to divert the bile.
So, the bile leak should come down.
Fluid from the abdomen cannot go into the scrotum unless any communication like hernia is present.
Hence, he should be clinically examined and get an Ultrasound.
If you come back with Ultrasound report, I will clarify further.
Regards
