Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to adverse effects of Xarelto or Zetia.

You should know that both these drugs can cause similar adverse effects (except for elevated levels of sugar).

Which one of these drugs was started first?

I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests to exclude other possible causes that may lead to your symptoms:

- a chest X ray study
- a resting ECG
- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR and sedimentation rate for inflammation, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes, HbA1C).

If the above mentioned tests result normal, you should discuss with your doctor on the possibility of gradually stopping Zetia first, to see if these symptoms improve or disappear (you can stop this drug or even switch to another therapy, without any severe adverse effects from interruption).

If these changes in your therapy do not cause any improvement in your clinical situation, then you should consider Xarelto as the possible cause of your symptoms and discuss with your doctor on the possibility of switching to another anticoagulant drug.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
