Question: I have had Parkinsons Disease for 8 years. Then about a year ago I started having severe cold chills about 3PM every day having to cover up with a heavy blanket and all the while shivering inside and sweating on the outside. This would last till about 7 PM and I could feel myself "coming back to normal". Then I would get stiff and couldn't move to be able to type. or hold silverware to eat - only stay still till it wore off. Some days I can work through it but most days not. It also affects all my muscles including my facial muscles, the muscles around my eyes. the way I talk, I can't control my bladder, even the tip of my nose gets numb and I can't control my eyes. They feel as if I'm going to burst out crying at any minute. And the saliva just runs like a faucet and I have to keep a wash cloth to my mouth to keep from spitting on someone or soiling my clothes. Do you have any idea what might be going on? I have a very good neuralogist here in XXXXXXX Dr. XXXXXXX XXXX, And she is not convinced it is PD. My chiropractor back in XXXX thinks it might be the adrenal glands. Thank you veery much for your thoughts ion this.

Brief Answer:
Follow the advice and visit physician with video recording

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
At this age parkinsons disease is commonly seen but if a neurologist has recently ruled out the diagnosis after examination then other possibilities have to be considered.
Shivering may be associated with urinary infection in presence of urinary complains.
Other possibility may be seizures causing shivering, incontinence and inability to move but daily at same time and lasting for 2-3 hours is an unlikely feature.
Stress related conversion reactions may also be one possibility.
I will advise you to consult a physician and another neurologist with video recording of your episodes of shivering and akinesia.
Any fever, headache , vomiting. Any neck pain, walking difficulty when you are asymptomatic?
Provide the details.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
