Question: hello, I am mentally disabled. suffering long term stress and am having severe pressure in chest making it very uncomfortable to breath. i do have copd. i already take many medications. but do to a serious situation going on in my life. I am in severe stress and depression. i am at the point of no return. getting any help is not possible for my situation, that has brought this on. I have been very ill for a long time. and I am getting worse. Is this why I am having discomfort in my chest.

Your chest discomfort is most likely due to one of two things. First is a COPD exacerbation. This is the most serious, and you need immediate medical evaluation by a primary care doctor for a physical exam, bloodwork, EKG, and other basic tests. Another possibility once medical causes are ruled out is that this is a somatic symptom of anxiety. This can be treated with cognitive behavioral therapy.
