default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: Hi doc. I'm suffering from severe chest pain on my left side and my legs have gone very weak and shaky. I also get back pain, side pain, neck pain and almost everywhere else. My heart starts to race for no reason too. I've been to the hospital and they said my hearts okey but won't give me anything to stop this pain. I don't know what to do I'm only 19 and feel like my body is about to give up.

Brief Answer:
need to rule out other causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Thanks for your question on HCM.

In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist first. And get done chest x ray atleast, to rule out any lung infection like pneumonia and pleurisy (inflammation of pleura). In both these conditions patient can have chest pain , increased heart rate.
I still insist for repeat ECG at the time of chest pain and palpitation to rule out arrhythmia and other cardiac causes.
If all above are normal than I think you should go for blood test like Hemoglobin and blood counts and Thyroid profile. Sometimes low Hb can cause such symptoms. Hyperthyroidism can also cause such symptoms.
If this is also normal than it must be stress related . So consult your doctor and discuss these things.
Hope I have solved your query and will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health.

Thanks.
