Suggest Treatment For Respiratory Tract Infection

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Feb 2015
Question: I think I need some antibiotics or a zpac. I am congested in my chest, my sinuses are stopped up, and I'm feeling generally bad. I have taken the zpac and antiobiotics before and that helped a lot. I seem to have a lot of gunk in my throat that won't come up. I have been fighting this for a couple of weeks and it seems like it is going away but it keeps coming back. I am sure it's not the flu.

Brief Answer:
This could be lower & upper respiratory infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
The symptoms described by you are suggestive of both upper and lower respiratory tract infection . Nothing to worry you will be OK.
I recommend the following.
1) Adequate fluids and fruit juices like orange to prevent dehydration.
Orange also boosts your immunity and helps in faster recovery.

2) A course of antibiotics. I recommend Tab amoxicillin with clavulinic acid 625 mg two times a day after food for 5 days. Please get them prescribed by your local doctor.

3) Expectorant cough syrup. Which contain ambroxol, guaiphenesin, terbutaline. This will clear the chest from sputum. Ambroxol dissolves and helps in relieving throat itching, clears the thick mucus.
4) For nasal and sinus congestion..tab levocetrizine with phenylephrine once at night.
4) For pain and fever you can take tab paracetamol.
5) I also advice steam inhalation to ventilate sinuses and clear their secretions.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I am happy to help you. Wish you a speedy recovery and good health ..Take care.
