Brief Answer:
bacterial infection send photo

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Could you send a picture of the XXXXXXX
1. From your description it looks like a bacterial infection.
Impetigo or boils are caused by staphylococcus bacteria which spreads through skin contact. The redness and swelling could indicate pus formatio.
2. You can continue cream.
3. You may need to give him oral antibiotics like amoxicillin for atleast 5 days.
4. It may take even a week more. Sometimes the pus might come out which you need to squeeze and drain if opens spontaneously.
If swelling and pain increase despite these measures you need to consult your doctor for removal of pus.
Wishing your child good health and speedy recovery.

The boil is healing now but since morning the child is having watery loose motions and has loss of appetite, kindly advice.

I have started giving ORS along wth LANZOL 30mg junior. Shall i stop giving him Augmentine 375mg, as he is taking Lanzol 30mg junior only once.

Please also advice food that he can take.

Brief Answer:
add probiotic like bifilac

Detailed Answer:
Amoxicillin can cause loose stools.
I usually prescribe probiotic like bifilac XXXXXXX one in the morning and one in the evening for 3 days.
Don't stop augmentin. It is essential for skin infection.
Continue lanzol and Ors.
Give him bland food. Avoid spicy oily diet.

Thanks very much for the reply, actually he skipped yesterday evening dose of Augmentein 375 mg as he was having lots of weakness and stools. So in the morning today he had no watery stool but he is having the high fever of 101 and we gave him paracetamol only.

Could you please advice the line of treatment along with steps.

May i also request for the reason of fever & headache today. Is it something related to skipping antibiotic dose or related to season change. His boil is quite stable now.

Regards.

Forgot to mention he did not had Augmentein 375mg this morning as well.

Answered by Dr. Arun (10 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
may not be related to skipping antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
1. Fever may not be related to boil especially because you have given 2 days of antibiotics and boil is stable now.
2. Continue paracetamol for fever.
3. Ensure he drinks plenty of liquids to keep him hydrated.
4. If fever persists consult your pediatrician for examination.
5. Continue tbact and complete amoxicillin course

Please let me know in case of wrong understanding for the treatment:

1)Bifilac sache first then after 5min Augmentein 370mg with Lanzol Jr 30mg
2)Repeat Paracetamol every 8hours in case of fever
3)Hot Milk/Curd with Idli can be given

He is also complaining about stomach ache after passing stools is it due to fever.
Is the above medication cover that as well or do i need to give pudin XXXXXXX liquid to him.

Regards.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Arun (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
avoid milk

Detailed Answer:
You are correct except that milk be restricted. Curd is better and can be given if freshly prepared.
Stomach ache could be due to gastritis or infection or antibiotic associated loose stools.
Bifilac and lanzol should be enough.
We don't recommend Pudin XXXXXXX
