Posted on Fri, 19 Feb 2016
Question: Hi

Can anybody please help me I have a rash on penis red,and looks like raised with little blood blotches here and there. Every time I go the toilet my penis looks shiny, but then when dab it with tissue it drys up. I first noticed this after using Viagra and hasn't got any better. It looks like a rash sitting on the surface on the penis. I don't have pain when urinate. My partner is pregnant and has had thrush diagnosed. Is this possible we both have thrush or can it be use off Viagra.

Cheers

Brief Answer:
yeast is possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Thrush is a type of yeast infection and yes you can get this on your penis. It is usually itchy but does not cause pain with urination. It can be white patches or little red bumps. Any topical over the counter yeast treatment like lamisil should clear this up if it is yeast.
It is also true that viagra can cause a rash but it is usually a rash that appears all over the body, not just on the penis.
I suggest that you get some lamisil or other yeast cream at the pharmacy. Use it twice a day for a week and if the rash does not go away then see your doctor.
If you develop fever or pain with urination then you need to be seen by a doctor right away.
I hope this resolves soon,

Brief Answer:
yes, that is possible

Detailed Answer:
If it is yeast then yes you can definitely pass it back and forth. Clotrimazole does not cover all strains of yeast so try to find lamisil since it covers more strains of yeast. You might need to use condoms until you are sure that both of you have this problem cleared up.

Thank you doctor
My partner is pregnant can she use the cream? Can you get this cream in chemist without prescription.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
yes

Detailed Answer:
You can buy this at the chemist without a prescription and it is safe for her to use in pregnancy. Only use the topical cream, not a tablet that you take by mouth.
