Suggest Treatment For Persistent Stomach Discomfort And Diarrhea

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: Sunday July 3rd - began having stomach discomfort.

Monday July 4th - AM felt very nauseated, weak.
Had some diarrhea late morning then felt fine the rest of the day.

Tuesday July 5th - weak with stomach discomfort. No appetite.
Usually very good about getting plenty of water and working out.
Didn't feel like either. No diarrhea

Wednesday July 6th - symptoms persist, no diarrhea

Thursday July 7th - symptoms persist, several bouts of diarrhea late afternoon into the evening.
Water very difficult to drink. Gatorade better. No appetite but ate some chicken soup and crackers.

Friday July 8th - stomach more stable, no diarrhea, but weak. No appetite (I'm usually eating healthily 4 or 5 times a day) At this point I've only had soup and crackers.

Saturday July 9th - feeling more productive. Could function normally (feeling stronger). Appetite returning but still eating carefully (oatmeal, soup, etc). A good day.

Sunday July 10th - similar to Saturday. Although stomach is still sensitive. Have a constant feeling of air/gas in my stomach. Some minor pain/discomfort if pressed on. Feel like I need to burp or pass gas. Tried Gas-X but with no real improvement.

Monday July 11th - First BM this morning. It was normal. Still can't drink water without feeling nausea. Tried a protein shake but could only take half. Chicken breast for lunch but wasn't really hungry. No appetite. Ate small dinner (baked potato). Still have that bloated / gassy feeling.

Tuesday July 12th - Half a protein bar. Stomach acting like it doesn't appreciate it. Still only sipping water. Normal water intake is 64 to 74 oz. Yesterday I had 28 oz.

Thats where I am now. Not feeling normal now for almost 10 days. Strength is better but eating and drinking is very atypical.

Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM .
Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.

My opinion-IBS D(Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhoea )
In the given situation-Your seem to suffer from-IBS D(Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhoea ).Mostly its from the food induced infection which caused Enterocolitis, giving nausea/ stomach discomfort with weakness and bloated /gassy feeling over last 10 days almost.

Do's Suggested-
To feel Normal be on liquid bland rice porridge with low solid contents,
Be more on liquids/ or juices.Start with small contents and increase gradually,as it accepts.
Be on thin butter milk x 2-3 times a day
Avoid Spicy, outside, ready food.Stick to homemade non-spicy,vegan diet with less solids to begin.
Yoghurt 1 x 2 times -as accepted
Tab Lactobacillus-1 x 2 times a day, to statbilize enteric and colonic flora
Be on vegan diet with prebiotic to start with-to reduce on gases
Tab Multivitamins with minerals-1 x 1 per day
Tab Ciprofloxacin with Ornidazole-1 x 2 times a day x 5 days
Tab PPI(proton pump inhibitors)- Omeprazole-to control nausea and gastritis.
Tab digestive Enzyme-1 x 2 per day with increase in solids would keep you more active and agile in next 3-5 days time.
All the above medicines to be taken with script from your family doctor.
The above comprehensive treatment for a 1 weeks time would recoup your health.

Other causes need to be ruled out after Consults with Specialist General Surgeon/ and Physician in consults with family-doctor -as need be.
If persists-get stool ova/cyst to confirm causal infection,or protozoal/helminth infestation, which could be treated accordingly by your attending doctor.

Further suggestions in this regard would need more information /investigations after getting more details from You.

Rule out other causes, before starting any treatment as suggested herewith.

This brief reply is given on facts submitted, which needs to be verified from your attending doctors, with whom you can check before starting further changes in the treatment.
