Question: I have had drenching night sweats since May. They began in France. I am not menopausal by a long stretch and have been tested for Tb, negative. I am completely changing clothing three to four times a night, as well as blankets. My bedroom is not overly warm.

Night sweats can be caused by variety of disorders in middle age. As you know menopause and tuberculosis is common cause but there are other disorders which are equally implicated in causing night sweats.

Among these disorders I request you to discuss possibility of various cancers and lymphoma with your physician which are common at this age.

In addition there is need to rule out Diabetes and neurological conditions like autonomic dysreflexia.

Thirdly if you are using any medication like antidepressants or antianxiety medications can be cause for night sweats.

In case there is everything negative a condition called idiopathic hyperhydrosis can be cause of night sweats.
