Suggest Treatment For Persistent Abdominal Bloating
Question: For approximately three weeks now, I have had severe and persistent abdominal bloating that is there all the time.....but it becomes worse if I try to eat anything at all. I feel full after just a couple of bites. I've lost about 12pounds already. I don't have a family doctor here....so I went to the Emergency at hospital because it felt like my insides were going to burst. They did bloodwork (which was normal) and an abdominal xray (also normal), The doctor told me to try Tecta40mg which I've been doing for four days now but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm starting to get scared it could be cancer or something very bad. I'd appreciate any ideas....?

Since you are having persistent abdominal bloating and have lost 12 pounds of weight i would advise you to do a CT scan of whole abdomen.
If any space occupying lesion is found in the scan then biopsy has to be done to rule out cancer.

I forgot to mention that the doctor has ordered an abdominal ultrasound. I'm just waiting for my appointment time. Will an ultrasound work as well or should i insist on a CT scan....?

I would advise you to do a CT scan as it can detect malignant changes in the body better than an ultrasonography.
Since you have lost weight you must not delay and you must go to the ER and do the CT scan.
If any lesion is found in the scan then upper gastrointestinal endoscopic biopsy has to be done to rule out malignancy.

ER already sent me home.....but I will try again. I'm so afraid of the endoscopic procedure. Do they sedate you for that....? I know I have to do anything to find out what's wrong.....but I'm terrified of that scope....so just wondering if they put you to sleep...?
