Suggest Treatment For Pain Under The Jaw While Having Fever

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Jun 2016
Question: Hi Doctor,

The symptoms that I have mentioned in the above mail chain, that I had fever after 3 weeks of my encounter was also associated with a mild pain in my neck under my jaw both sides. That pain just lasted for 2 to 3 days. That pain came after the fever in fact, after you answered my last question. I did not get a chance to contact you again immediately but I am contacting you now.

After the fever for 2 days that I have mentioned, I had this mild pain under my jaw for two days but no visible swelling. Does this pain mean my lymph nodes might have swollen along with my fever? Will that indicate a symptom? please advise.

I have not had any other symptom till date, to sum up - had a fever for 3 days after 3 weeks of my encounter which I already told you, after that fever had a pain under my jaw for 3 days with no visible swelling as far as i know, then maybe occasionally some diarrhea at that time when I had this fever and pain in neck. No other symptoms other than these three. Please let me know doctor. Also, I have not taken any tests till date. It has been more than 6 months.

Thanks in advance!

Brief Answer:
appears to be viral fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Based on the provided information I feel you had viral fever. Pain under the jaw might be due to associated upper respiratory tract infection.

Presently if you do not have any symptoms, I don't see any point in being tensed.
I'll be glad to answer your further queries.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you. Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.
Take care.

Hi Doctor,

Thank you for your time for going through my questions and answering them. The pain that i mentioned, so you suppose that might not be a lymph node swelling, but just something due to some other virus? and it lasted for just 3 days as i said before and no other symptoms till date. I am about to take a test to confirm the status , please tell me the test that I might need to ask the hospital to take to confirm my status and if i have crossed the window period.

Also, please let me know if they are not any HIV symptoms (those all I have mentioned above). I heard that after the initial symptoms there will not be any other symptoms for many years, so that is why I had a doubt about that fever and neck pain.

Thank you again!

Brief Answer:
Elisa test

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
The symptom that you have mentioned, I feel is that of upper respiratory tract infection. It is viral infection and require only symptomatic treatment. I think do not think you need any test for it.

The HIV 1 PCR test is more than 99 percent accurate at 9 days. The most widely used are the ELISA assays, the enzyme-linked immunosorbant assays. It is suggested that ELISA test is done at 3 months and if negative then repeated again at 6 months. You can ask about this test at local laboratory near your place.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you. Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.
Take care.

Thank you again doctor for the replies. I am sure that a test is definitely needed in spite of all these assumptions and conclusions. based on the above XXXXXXX and situation, I just have one last question. Might they be related to HIV or any other STDs? or is it just some random illness that came and went away in due course of time? Requesting you to just provide your thoughts.

Thanks!
