Brief Answer:
Flu likely with sequelae

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i udnerstand your concern. As fas as the cough is concerned this resilient cough could have multiple factors like Flu you mentioned and many others like acid reflux etc.

Until and unless the flu is managed it will be followed by the cough as its the common sequelae of any flu or cold.

The feeling of cold neck is also a feeling one gets in common cold and flu. Unless you have some metabolic disorder or hypothermia in past history, you have full right to ignore this feeling.

Now the painful joints all over the body if acute and short term in its history then it too is attributed to the recent viral infection and is a result of fatigue and lethargy any illness puts upon a person. If the joint pain is a chronic complaint other etiologies need to be considered. Age related articular degeneration is the commonest cause of arthralgia in such cases.

Nutshell have a flu shot as you are a candidate for it. Take some symptomatic relief. Herbal and home remedies work like charm for such cold and flu symptoms. Hot beverages like herbal tea mixed with honey is the treatment of choice for my patients with such patients. You may take some ibuprofen for the pain and wait and see. Flu covers its duration in maximum of 2 weeks and should resolve spontaneously.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
