Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Wisdom Tooth Growth

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: Hello, the left wisdom tooth of my lower jaw is growing and the last 2 days I have a lot of pain. I am 25 and i had the 2 wisdom teeth of the upper jaw 5 years ago so i have no idea why it took so long for the lower ones to appear. I have realized today, that when i touch the skin under my chin, to the left hand side, my lymph node is painful when i touch and feels like there is something in it. Like a cyst maybe. I wonder if this has to do with the wisdom tooth because my lymph nodes were fine a few days ago.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your message.
I did some xrays a few years ago and I showed them to my dentist but unfortunately i don't have them right now. I didn't take any antibiotics just a few painkillers. I noticed this pain just today and i feel it when i touch it with my finger. When i touch it carefully i feel something like a small lump inside. I am sure i didn't have the pain or lump 1 week ago. Do you think it can be from the tooth and the inflammation going on?

Pericoronitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for reply.

You are definitely correct in your findings. There is inflammation as well as infection developed in your wisdom teeth,as per the given details here.

Please see your dentist soon and start a course of antibiotic and pain killers for three days.

You must take a simple recent x ray to judge the present status of your wisdom teeth.Based upon x ray finding treatment can be planned.

For now, please do not worry at all.Do warm saline rinses or you can also use Hexidine or any mouthwash available to you. This will give you symptomatic relief.

Once you start your medicine inflammation and infection would go down. For immediate pain relief you can also take tablet Combiflam every eight hourly until you see your dentist.

Take semi solid diet and maintain oral hygiene, until you see your dentist.
Let me know for further doubts.
Thanks.
Take care.
