Brief Answer:
A cardiac ailment could present with such presentation.Visit ER.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
It is hard for me to comment if the chills have any other cause but heart attack is known to cause pain and discomfort to radiate to left hand. I would specifically ask if it is involving only the hand or is it involving the entire left upper limb, including the arm and forearm. If it is involving only the hand, I would not worry and look for other possible causes. But if the entire left upper limb is involved, you should call up the emergency services without delay or should arrange to visit the ER of a hospital at the earliest.

Brief Answer:
If you have fever along, chills and numbness can be associated.

Detailed Answer:
In that case there is perhaps less to worry about. Please mention if you have fever or is it only chills. In case you have fever, tylenol would help, but not otherwise.
Hope that helps.

it feels like I do have a fever but I don't have a thermometer

Answered by Dr. Prof. Kunal Saha (6 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
The temperature needs to be kept in control.

Detailed Answer:
Fine. Things are falling in place.
You have done the right thing by taking tylenol. It would be preferrable if you could keep a thermometer handy for future usage. Tepid sponging will help in relieving temperature. Once you come back to normal, the numbness will go away.
Chills and rigors are often associated with conditions like malaria or urinary tract infection and I would suggest you to visit a doctor and to get yourself evaluated.
Hope that helps.
Regards
