Brief Answer:
Need to know more about your history.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to the HCM,
First of all I would like to know that have you started taking these medicines on your own or after taking advice from your treating physician?

Dear to treat the migraine you need to know that why migraine attacks happen and how it can be avoided. With taking these medicines .For that I need to ask that what are the triggering factors of your attack and how often this headache happen in one month? For example if it happens before menstrual period,or after going out in sun for long period,or after taking so much stress? Also eating chocholates, drinking cola and taking recurrently pain killers may also trigger the migraine attack.

Since there is no definite medicine for migraine attack ,but some medicines just help to avoid the attack .
Like first step to avoid the attack is recognizing triggering factors and avoiding them to prevent the acute attack.

2nd step is to take medicine for treating acute attack ,for acute attack other than calcium channel blocker (sibelium) and domperidone (grenil) paracetamol,
beta blocker (propranolol), antiinflamattory (pizotifen) can also be used, depends these medicines are not contraindicated as per the patient's medical condition. And also antideppressants, antihistamines can be used to prevent the acute attack to reoccur.

Hopefully my answer will be helpful, you may ask further without any hesitation, I shall be happy to help.
Wish you best of health.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari

In the child hood i had migrane attack rarely.
When i entered my twenties i had attacks frequently. After my delivery i had severe migrane attacks. For the past two three years i had attacks twice or thrice monthly. Now i have migrane attacks twice monthly.it last for two or three days.I think that when i happen to go out in the sun the migrane starts. When there is a tension it occurs.A small outing triggers the attack. Some times there is ni reason for the attack.Bright designs occur in front of the eyes before the migrane attacks. My eyes get stressed. And the nerves on either side of the forehead starts vibrating. Please i need your advice to overcome this pitiable condition. Please do reply as soon as possible

Brief Answer:
Recognize which medicines suit you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Dear I have gone through your detailed history,it seems that frequency of headache attacks has increased and it has to be controlled first.

1. First of all avoiding these triggering factors would help to prevent the attack, like wearing sun glasses when ever going out, avoiding taking stress (start yoga, light exercise, light music daily) and try to be busy and happy.

2.With avoiding triggering factors , discuss with your treating doctor for the course of preventive medicines .These are the medicines ,which prevent an attack to be occured. These medicines can be tried to decrease the frequency of attacks ,depends which medicine suits a patient. For that one need to be in constant contact with the doctor and follow accordingly. One of these preventive medicines are (amitriptyline, topiramate, cyproheptadine, propranolol, metoprolol, nadolol, pizotefen), can be used for 3 to 18 months ,according to the patient's response and changed accordinly after discussing with the treating doctor.

3.
With preventive medicines , migraine specific drugs like (amlotriptan, eletriptan, frovatryptan, sumatryptan) can be used for acute attack .These medicines come in form of injections, nasal sprays and easily dissolving tablets and relieve the symptoms of migraine in around half an hour.Other medicines which can be used for acute attack are (diclofenec, naproxen and tolenmic acid ) with anti emetics.

In the last I would like to suggest that as migraine is complex but at the same time easy to overcome if the right choice and right group of medicines is selected which suit a patient .And this is only possible when one watch and record what is happening and discuss with the treating doctor (as medicines can not be prescribed here ) to help the doctor decide if the medication is helping.

Hopefully I answered your question and it will be helpfull .You may ask further anytime without hesitation.
Wish you best of health.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari
