Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.

I understand your concern.
Disturbances in menstruation, like changes in duration and amount of bleeding is very common when nearing menopause. As you are 47 years, this may just indicates the beginning of menopause.
Anyhow, increased bleeding at this age needs a detailed evaluation to rule out any significant uterine pathology. You need to have a gynaecologic examination,an ultrasound abdomen, and depending on the findings, may also need a histopathological examination of the uterus by fractional curettage. If everything is normal, this need not be worried, and if disturbing, can be controlled with hormonal agents like progesterone pills.

Your gynaecologist will guide you in this.
Meanwhile, take a diet rich in fruits and green leafy veges, and have enough fluids.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
With regards,Dr Aslam.
