Brief Answer:
what medicines have been tried until now?Provide other details

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us. Morgellons Disease is similar to Delusional parasitosis, or delusory parasitosis. This delusional parasitosis is difficult to treat. We psychiatrist used to get reference of such patients from our dermatologist colleagues. In this problem anti-psychotic medicine specifically first generation typical anti-psychotic like haloperidol or pimozide is more useful. Sometime SSRI like fluoxetine is also added.

Let me know which drugs have been used for your treatment until now.

Alcohol gives relief from mental stress. Person who is suffering from any kind of stress may become habituated to alcohol as alcohol gives him/her tremendous relief.
You also seem to be trapped in alcoholism in this way.
I strongly recommend getting deaddcited from alcohol

Let me know your daily intake of alcohol with type of alcohol, quantity, frequency and since when you are on current amount.

Possibility of depression is also there. Low mood, lack of interest in routine activities, sleep disturbance, worthlessness, lack of concentration, crying spells, thoughts of dying, excessive worries are symptoms of depression. If you have symptoms more than 2 weeks and affecting your social life, occupation life or study then possibility of depression is there. For confirmation of diagnosis detail history and mental status examination are required to be done by a psychiatrist.
Let me know any of the above symptoms are there?

I will be happy to help further after your response.

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Thank You for replying to me Dr. Solanki. I am basically a mess. I drink Vodka and on my worst days I can down a 26 oz bottle. I recently spent 8 days in Hospital due to drinking. I have been to Rehab twice and relapsed both times. I was diagnosed with slight liver and pancreas damage. I can't sleep and sleepers don"t work for me anymore. Just over a year ago I broke my hip and was in surgery right away. Thus I only have about a quarter of my real hip left. The Surgeon prescribed Morphine but my GP took it away because of it's addictive qualities and prescribed me Tylenol 4. Isn't Tylenol hard on the liver too? I have read about Delusional Parasol is many times. I take issue with that as it does not explain the scaring and open lesions all over my body. They excrete black fires and occasionally blue and green ones. I twice witnessed a tiny fly come out of the lesions. Stress makes it worse and I lost my 19 year old son to a drug overdose in 2014. I can't get over the grief. I think I have answered all your questions. I look forward to hearing your advice.

Thank You very much

Brief Answer:
treatment for Morgellons is always challenging

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for some information.

You forgot to mention about medicines details as well as symptoms of depression. I am sorry for your son.

Alcohol affects liver and pancreas more than tyelonol. Your intake of alcohol is high and you need to stop for better health.

For Morgellons I recommend either of risperidone, olanzapine or pimozide with fluoxetine or escitalopram. For sleep problem lorazepam or chlordizipoxide is recommended. These medications will also help in deaddiction from alcohol as well as in depression.

Better to have consultation with psychiatrist without any hesitation and start the treatment.

Feel free to discuss further.

Take care dear.

Thank You for your informative answer. I have all the symptoms of depression you mentioned. I am on "Trintellix" for depression. I am on Tylenol 4 for pain from when I broke my hip. Remember I said the Surgeon put me on Morphine for pain but my GP took it away due to it"s addictive qualities and put me on Tylenol 4. For sleep I take Immovable or Tamezpan. Neither seem to work anymore. The Pharmacist told me that can happen after years of taking them. I will see my Dr. and request the medication (s) you mentioned. I have suffered trauma all my life: abusive father, abusive x husband, the death of my son and being bullied in school. I think all these past trams have made me what I am today. I see a Psychiatrist but not often enough.

Thanks again

Brief Answer:
olanzapine with fluoxetine is good option

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for more information.

Trintellix is not so potent antidepressant and likewise temazepam is also not much potent sleeping pill.

If I were your treating doctor considering your overall history I would like to start fluoxetine in the morning and olanzapine at night. Olanzapine will help in sleep. And for specific sleep problem I recommend ativan or klonopin.

You can discuss this with your treating doctor and move forward.

Consulting psychiatrist will help you to understand your problem in better way as well as session of psychotherapy/counseling will motivate you for deaddiction also.

If still any query there, I will be happy to answer if not, you can close the discussion and if feasible give your feedback and rating so I can improve my service.
