Suggest Treatment For Joints Pain While Having Low Dose Chemotherapy
Question: my husband is on a low dose chemotherapy tablet but also has severe muscular/joint pain. what are foods to avoid ? His anti inflammatory medication Arthrexin can't be taken with the chemo as is causes severe dioreaha. Thanks XXXXXXX

1. Diarrhea secondary to chemotherapy and Arthrexin could be due to gastritis. This gastritis possibly increases the motility of the GI tract resulting in diarrhea.
2. If a proton pump inhibitor like pantoprazole or rabeprazole is taken before food or medication, twice daily, it should reduce gastritis and reduce diarrhea. Then, Arthrexin should not be much of a problem.
3. Diet - Should avoid processed foods as they can increase motility. Additionally, spicy or sour foods should be avoided. Fiber rich food, specifically from fruits and vegetables will be helpful.
4. For muscle and join pain, fisiocrem should be helpful. Additionally mild physiotherapy, stretching, cold or hot packs will be helpful. Your physiotherapist can help in multiple therapies in reducing pain.
5. Take good amount of fluids and fiber rich diet. Protein is essential to build immunity. However, watch out for any specific diet, which could cause diarrhea, specifically fatty foods. He might need to be more selective regarding his diet.
6. Add probiotics or yoghurt to his diet.
