Suggest Treatment For Itchy Bumps After An Insect Bite

Posted on Wed, 21 Oct 2015
Question: I had a 10 second spell of vertigo last night while watching television. I also have three areas of insect bites, causing only minor bumps and itchiness. At least one is probably spider. Since this is the third episode in 15 years I am trying to find the cause. The last time there were three episodes in one week, then nothing. Is there a connection?

Brief Answer:
Probably benign paroxysmal vertigo.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Your concerns are not related to insects bytes, the most probable condition that may cause your symptoms is benign paroxysmal vertigo.

Another possibility is Ménière's disease.

Both these conditions are related to equilibrium apparatus dysfunction located in inner ear.

I don't see any reason to worry about, only if these episodes of dizzy spells repeat and become more frequent, you should consult an ENT Doctor and have further evaluation.

Just be careful of avoiding sudden head movements that may trigger dizzy spells.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Thank you for your information. The episodes are not usually a problem except that one happened while I was driving. I managed to steer the car off into a parking lot that I could not see but was able to remember its location.

Brief Answer:
These episodes are unpredictable.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

These episodes could happen every time, in every places and situations, so, as I stated before, there is no emergency, but an ENT Doctor evaluation is needed.

Hope I helped you.

Best regards.
