Posted on Mon, 13 Jul 2015
Question: I have intermittent pain up and dwn my left side. Have osteoarthritis in left knee which always aches. Now I get pain in heal, sometimes in ankle like I am missing prt of tendon. Sometimes the pain is in my calf. Sometimes in thigh and buttocks - feels like deep bruise. I thought I had planters facietus for awhile but then the pin moved to calf area. I have been limping for more than six months. Seems very day is a little different. Using a ankle brace for some control. Sometimes feels like my tendon could snap. Always on left side of body. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Nerve compression syndromes should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. As you having pain on various levels of leg one side nerve compression syndromes should be ruled out. Examination with an orthopedician will be helpful to get signs for this. It can be from lumbar disc herniation. X ray of lumbo sacral spine followed by a MRI will be needed in case of any positive signs. A nerve conduction study should be carried out also.

Muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine, NSAIDs like aceclofenac and neurotropics like pregabalin and methylcobalamin will be helpful also. Physiotherapy also should be done along with this.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
