I am a very regular long haul flyier but last night on a 13 hours flight I experienced a repeating numbness in each of my hands. I managed to relieve it by working my hands. All other parts of my body were fine. I landed 6 hours ago and I feel fine; my hands are, apart from being a little stiff, absolutely fine.

i am having a weird sensation on my ankle. it feels as though there is an ice cube being held to it. the sensation is sometimes so intense it feels like what i imagine frost bite would feel like, however the skin is not cold to the touch and the feeling is located in a specific spot on my ankle. it has occurred for about 2 weeks now and the spot feels about the size of a golf ball.

Looks like u r having a peripheral nerve injury. Have u hit yourself somewhere lately? How old are u? Are u on any medications? Diabetic? Cholesterol? It needs to be worked up including an ENMG and maybe even a doppler study depending on whether the doctor can feel your...

Numbness of Both Feet (Mainly soles) since 3 years. Started in the lefft foot and withn a week, the other foot also. Finding it to walk with sandals and at time when i each home after a walk there will be only one sandal on my feet. the numbness is not spreading upwards. While in bed I have to raise myself up to see whether my fee are covered with sheet or not. The is no Incontinance of any sort. Took plenty of B 12 and Alpha Lipoic Acid in vain. it is disturbing to see my shuffling gait. Not a smoker. Very poor with Alcoholic drinks. No Hyperension and Not a Diabetic. I used to spend hours in front of my Computer and i think the numbness becomes more severe and bit painfull......ANY remedy ..................................................................................Somanath

Thank you for posting your query.

Your symptoms are suggestive of peripheral neuropathy- nerve damage of the feet. This has resulted in numbness and lack of sensations.

Alcoholic drinks could be the reason, so, you should try and stop it.

In addition, nerve conduction studies may be required...

I cannot cross my legs and even sit down for along time I was successfully operated for neurofibroma and laminectomy in L4-L5 vertebra on Nov 25,2004.My left side is still affected and I cannot cross my legs and even sit down for along time.Two MRIs taken successively reveal,"spinal cord widening posteriorly.Severe nerve root compression in L4-L5 region"I feel tremendous pressure in legs and get splitting headaches frequently Also a nerve conduction study taken revealed,"Absent H-reflexes on both sides" I cant even travel for a long time.What are H reflexes?What is the problem?What should be my future course of action?
