Suggest Treatment For High Liquefcation Time

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am having low sperm motility & high liquification time. My wife is not able to conceive. I am also diagnosed with hypothyroid 5 months ago and taking treatment for it and throid levels are in control now.
Semen Analysis Test results (15 days ago):
LIQUIFICATION: NOT COMPLETED TILL 2:30 PM. Time of sample submission: 9 AM
Volume : 4 ml
Total Count: 77 Million/ml

Mobility:
Active: 20
Sluggish: 20
Non Motile: 60

Morphology:
Normal: 50
Anbormal: 50
I have taken lot of tablets since last one year like Lycomega, Carnimed Plus, COQ-10 etc as prescribed by doctors. Earlier, I was not aware of my Thyroid problems but after the medications of Thyroid, my sperm count has increased from 30 million to 77 millions/ml. But, Sperm motility remains the same.
Question:
1)     Is hypothyroid root cause of all these problems?
2)     Kindly suggest some medicines/treatment to improve sperm motility.
3)     Also, I have seen consistently (last 4-5 semen test reprts) that semen liquification time is too high. Kindly suggest some treatment.
Kindly suggest whether line of treatment & medicines are correct or not.

Brief Answer:
Semen culture and sensitivity test required

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I saw your semen analysis report and problem of high liquefaction.

Following is my reply;

1) Hypothyroidism has nothing to do with this.

2) Your semen analysis is normal and excellent. Only there is high liquefaction. This can be easily treated. Your delayed liquefaction is due to infection of semen.

3) You need to get semen culture and sensitivity test done to which is the organism causing infection and what are the antibiotics it is responsive to ? If you take antibiotics as per culture and sensitivity report, this infection will get cured soon.

4) Semen infection is a small problem and dont worry about it.

Medicines you are taking currently are of no use and are not required. Dont take them anymore.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

Dr. Mahesh Koregol.

Thanks doctor. I got my AEROBIC CULTURE AND SENSITIVITY [SEMEN] test done in August 2014 from Apollo hospital.

Reports(CS) : DIRECT CULTURE SHOWS NO GROWTH.

Are you referring to this test?

Also, I have got semen analysis test 4-5 times in Holy Family hospital (in last 15 months) but there they have always reported that semen did NOT liquefied in 5-6 hours.
However, when I got tested in Apollo hospital ONCE in August 2014, it reported Liquifaction Time     = 1 hour. Recent SA report from Holy Family hospital also shows that semen did not liquefied in 5-6 hours.

Is there any error/problem in the tests/reports done by Holy Family. I understand that you would not comment anything about any hospital. But, please let me know your suggestion.

Kindly suggest some medication/good doctors in DELHI/NCR since we are trying to have a baby almost since last 2.5 years. Please help.

Many thanks.

Brief Answer:
Reoeat semen culture and sensitivity test

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I mean the same test done in 2014 in apollo. Probably the report is wrong and you need to repeat culture and sensitivity test for another reputed laboratory.

Meanwhile take tablet Augmentin 625 mg twice a day for 7 days.

In XXXXXXX you can meet Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX who is one of top fertility consultants. Her number is 0000

Kindly suggest some reliable test centers based on your experience & contacts since it is now very difficult for me to judge. I know there are many fancy, 7 star hotel like hospitals/fertility centers which hardly think about patients. Kindly suggest some reliable and consistent LAB/center where I can get the tests done. I will be very thankful to you.
Getting a good reliable doctor is very difficult these days. Hope you understand my concern.

Best Regards.

Brief Answer:
Another reputed fertility centre will do

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am not sure about hospitals in XXXXXXX / NCR. I suggest you go to another good fertility centre for the test. It is better to have another report rather than believing one report only.

regards
