Hi,

Augmentin contains both amoxicillin and clavulanic acid that is used in the treatment of various bacterial Infections such as respiratory tract Infections like pneumonia or bronchitis, ear Infections, skin and soft tissue Infections, urinary tract Infections, sinusitis and many more. But, like other medications, this medication has some side effects of its own. Augmentin can cause diarrhea as a common side effect, but it also may cause constipation less frequently.

So, it may alter someone's bowel habits during taking this medication. Other side effects of Augmentin are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, gas, white patches in the mouth, loss of appetite, bloody diarrhea, skin rashes, itching or allergic reactions. If any of these side effects persist for long or bother your child, then you should consult your baby's doctor first for medical help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
