What Causes Mucus In Stool Of A Child?
My 5 year old daughter has had mucus in her stool for 4 weeks. I cut out dairy and it did not change anything. We were out at the park riding bikes and stopped to look at deer and she got off her bike and layed down saying her belly hurt so badshe wanted to die. Took her to doc within the hour did xrays and thoses were fine. tested negative for c-diff, parasites and blood work came back fine. I had to collect a stool sample to night for a 3 day smear and a big glob of mucus came out without any feces. When she did poop, it was covered also in mucus. and it stinks very bad. very bad. any ideas on what it could be?

As the investigations are normal, we need not worry much, especially if the stools are not bloody and she is otherwise fine. Anyhow, if it is persisting, I would recommend her rectum be examined with a surgeon.
