Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: My husband continues to have high fever, excessive sweating, no appetite, excessive thirst and now has distended belly. Been to urgent care on Saturday then ER on Sunday. All vitals at both visits were normal. Sugar normal but liver enzymes were at 200. Ultra sound showed normal liver and bladder functions. Urine is dark orange. Both docs thought it is a virus but no meds have been given.

Brief Answer:
investigate him and consult a local internist

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic.
Your husband is having something sinister in abdomen.
There can be viral hepatitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, perforation or ischemia of bowel to name some differential diagnoses.
He should be examined by a XXXXXXX physician or an Intensive care doctor.
A chest Xray, complete blood count, liver function test, renal function test and ultra sound of whole abdomen should be done as soon as possible to arrive at a diagnosis.
Such problems may leads to rapid shut down of kidneys and other organs if not treated timely.
I hope the advice will be helpful for you.

Thank you. He does have appt with his primary doc first thing in the morning. So hopefully he can be seen by a specialist shortly thereafter. He knows something is really wrong. He does not get sick like this.
