Brief Answer:
new guidelines- less than 150/90

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood pressure can be graded differently according to the guidelines used.

In the US guidelines, a blood pressure of 153/82 would be called a stage 1 blood pressure though in 2014, these guidelines also stated that the bp goal for persons over age 60 is 150/90.
This means that the new guidelines recommend a bp of 150/90 or less for persons over 60.

The highest stage is stage 2, where the systolic (top value) is above 160 AND/OR the diastolic (lower value) is above 100.

At 153/82 , there is no immediate danger of heart attack or stroke, especially since it is only fractionally above the new guidelines. In the old guidelines the goal would have been less than 140/90 and you can still aim for this if you wish.

These complications would only occur if this blood pressure continues to be mildly high persistently. If this occurs then it can cause changes to the blood vessels ,the heart.

You should consider monitoring your blood pressure at different points during the day for the next 48 hours, note your readings.
If your values are consistently high then you can speak to your doctor about potential changes to the medication.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
may be due to taste bud changes

Detailed Answer:
HI

As persons age, they can lose sensation in the taste buds and there fore lose appetite but you should have him assessed by his doctor to make sure there is no other reason.

A full blood count and ESR would be able to make sure that there are no other issues that may need investigating.

You can consider appetite stimulants to help stimulate his appetite. The B vitamins are particularly good at this, your pharmacist should be able to tell you which b vitamin supplements are available in your area.

In addition, you can try meal replacement. Even if he does not want a full meal , you can use products such as ensure to replace the other meals. These are high calorie and would still help.

If anything else is unclear , feel free to ask
