Question: My belly has been hurting for over a week. Here are my symptoms:
A rumbly tummy for weeks, bowels are loose but not complete water, just lose.
This past weekend I had the worse heartburn I've ever had. Every time I ate it felt like my chest on fire. It burned as food went down. Yesterday I started burping this awe up taste in my mouth & it was stinky. Now I continue to burp & I'm very bloated. When I called my doctor 2 days ago, the nurse suggested proposed, which I took yesterday morning. I'm awake in the middle of night, tummy is rumbling like crazy & stomach feels bloated & kinda hard. Any suggestions? I am type 2 diabetic, too.

Brief Answer:
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease with gastric acid

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the inputs and sorry for the delay.

Your symptoms are simulating gastro-esophageal reflux disease with gastric acidity. In GERD the stomach contents mostly the acid is refluxed back into esophagus.this is causing you burping and bad taste. Esophagus mucosa is not designed for exposure of such contents. So there is so much burning.

The diagnosis is usually made by symptoms and response to treatment.Other tests are esophageal acid test and endoscopy. Endoscopy may also help to rule out esophageal mucosal erosion or ulcer with additional evaluation of stomach.

The treatment is basically directed towards reducing acid production or neutralizing it.
A use of antacid like (ranitidine) can give relief within in short duration, however action last for shorter duration. Proton pump inhibitor(Prilosec) reduce acid formation and have comparatively longer duration of action.

Pro-motility drugs (metoclopramide ) can be used. They increase the pressure in the lower esophageal sphincter and strengthen the contractions of the esophagus.

Foam barriers provide a unique form of treatment for GERD. Foam barriers are tablets that are composed of an antacid and a foaming agent.

Life style changes which can be extremely helpful and include - avoid spicy food, smoking, caffeine, alcohol, smoking, large meals, sleep immediate after meal and stress. Some case antibiotic treatment may be considered if h pylori infection is suspected.

Gasex tablets can help you to reduced gaseous distension of bowels.

In severe case surgical option like fundoplication and other techniques strengthening lower esophageal sphincter may be considered.
