Brief Answer:
Fatty liver is not abnormal finding.Do not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Your alkaline phosphatase is normal and let me know about other LFTs like sgpt, sgot, billirubin etc.

Also, I would like to say that fatty liver (especially if it is grade-I and grade-II ) is not alarming finding. It indicates fatty tissue deposition on the liver like in people, who have fatty or pendulous abdomen. Therefore I wouldn't be personally worried about this finding.

Generally, fatty liver condition is a kind of obesity. And it is completely reversible in the initial stages especially, by following below mentioned corrective measures.

1) do regular exercise or brisk walk at least 30 minutes per day

2) Cessation of alcohol intake (if you are alcoholic),

3) Avoid junk foods and fast foods,

4) Take low fat and high protein diet (Veg- Pulses, soya bean)

5) Take more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Tab.Udilive a liver enzyme supplement once daily may be helpful if you have mildly altered liver function tests like sgpt and sgot.

However, there is no such a time limit on when to have a repeat ultrasound scan but it can be repeated after 3 months following above corrective measures to check the liver status.

So,no need to bother much about it and get back to me with LFTs.

Hope this information will help you.

Brief Answer:
Liver enlargement is due to fatty tissue depositions.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for more information.

This 14 cm liver enlargement is mild to moderate (grade-I or II) and it is due to excess fatty tissue depositions in liver cells.

It is not an abnormal finding and completely reversible by dietary precautions and regular exercises.

SGPT,SGOT and serum total protein values are clinically normal. So,there is no need to worry about LFTs.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
