Question: I was constipated for two days which is not unusual for me. I now have pain across lower stomach and sometimes in groin area. Does not hurt when arising in morning. But about an hour it starts. Constipation clear up. Stools are brown. Hurts most when walking or sitting for more than 10 minutes. Have not seen doctor because it is weekend.

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/74 - constipated for 2 days - not unusual - pain across lower stomach - sometimes groin - starts after an hour after arising up in the morning - hurts most when walking or sitting for more than 10 minutes constipation clear up - stools are brown - taking Advil for pain - not seen the Doctor as it is weekend ...
As per the history you have provided, the pain in the lower abdomen and groin can be due to colitis or fecal loading of the colon, particularly the sigmoid part, or can be due to bladder sling or related to the bladder problem.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Take laxatives to have relief from constipation.
- Clinical evaluation and an actual examination of the abdomen by a Doctor. This is very important as the Doctor would see for any hernia, local tenderness, palpation of fecoliths if present.
- Further tests:
X-ray of the abdomen in standing position to see for any fecoliths, bladder stones.
Ultrasound of the whole abdomen, particularly for urinary system - bladder changes.
Tests of stool, urine and blood helps in some cases for hidden cause.

All these will lead to a possible diagnosis and give for additional plan for curative treatment.

I hope this answer helps you in getting an early and proper diagnosis and have curative treatment.
Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
