Suggest Treatment For Chronic Constipation

Posted on Tue, 22 Nov 2016
Question: For the past 20 years i have suffered from constipation, well last week i had a bowel movement and noticed when i wiped there was a speck of blood. Then i felt a burning sensation. The next day i had another BM and it burned so bad and i noticed another speck of blood. So a couple of days passed and the pain went away but i feel a slight itching around the rectum/anus.. Well i had a bowel movement today, soft and didnt feel the burning as bad just slight pain, burning around rectum no bleeding. I dont have abdominal pain and i have not noticed blood in toilet. In fact i bought a colon test at drug store to detect blood in toilet and it came out negative of blood.. But i feel some burning, itching and achey from rectum after my bowel movement today. What do you think it is? What do you recommend i do?
Im not on any medication. I just drink linzess for my chronic constipation.
No weight loss at present time.

Brief Answer:
It is trauma due to constipation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
Since you have mentioned long standing constipation, your symptoms could be due to three reasons.
1you could have strained a lot to pass the stool, injuring yourself in the bargain.
2 Long standing constipation itself could have caused a fissure in the anus.
3 You could be having hemorrhoids or piles which bleed on straining.
Well since you mentioned that the subsequent bowel did not cause much burning, It is possible that you could have injured your self during the first attempt to pass motion.
Please eat lots if fibre, drink plenty of water and you could also use a laxative regularly.
If the pain gets bad sit in a tub of XXXXXXX warm water, it will help.
If the bleeding worsens please see a surgeon again.
Glad your colonoscopy is negative.
Best wishes

Well i didnt have a colonoscopy, i bought a colon test at drug store that checks for blood. They are like sheets that you place in toilet bowel to check for blood in stool and they came out negative. Do you recommend a colonoscopy for my symptoms?
