default
Posted on Fri, 7 Apr 2017
Question: Today, yesterday, I suddenly got a bad case of the chills.
Also extreme fatigue.
Also a slight fever.
Last week, I had a bad cold, but I recovered, so I don't understand why I feel
this way

in general,I am in good health.

But the chills were quite severe, and so is the fatigue.

I have never felt this way before.

The chills were so severe that I had to take a hot shower, and drink hot cocolate.

The fatigue is so severe that it interferes with my waking.
What is happening?

i usually walk briskly. Now, I walk like an old man.

It all happened so suddenly.
Last week, I felt fine, recovering from a cold
The yesterday, the symptoms started.
I have never felt like this before.

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Have you taken your temperature? You may have a fever.

If you have a cough, fever, chills, it might be the flu (influenza) which is going around the US. It can also be pneumonia. But I really can't say without an exam.

If these symptoms are continuing, I recommend going in to an urgent care clinic (if you can't get in to see your doctor today) where they can examine you, and get a CBC (complete blood count blood test) and possibly a chest X-ray. Also a urinalysis to check for an occult urinary tract infection.

If there are nor respiratory symptoms, they should also check an EKG to make sure these aren't atypical heart symptoms, such as from an arrythmia.

When you go in to the clinic or doctor's office, take care not to touch your eyes or nose so that you don't pick up an infection someone else has left on a surface.

If you are willing, please let me know how you are doing after you have been evaluated.
