Suggest Treatment For Calcified Granuloma In The Liver

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: I am 22years old. A week back I was diagnosed for Dermoid Cyst of 10cm on my ovary and as a result ovary torsion occurred and one of my ovary & Fallopian tube was surgically removed. During this procedure it was discovered that I have calcified granuloma of liver. I have been vaccinated for Hepatitis A as well for Hepatitis C during my childhood. I had severe jaundice at the time of my birth and had to spend 10 day in neo-natal unit of the hospital. I don't face any pain or complication in my liver and all my blood test for LFT is normal. Do I need to worry about the calcification or let it remain as it is, as I don't want to undergo any more surgery.

Brief Answer:
You have to get investigated if it is a bigger one.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

As per your description, there is a calcified granuloma in the Liver. Please mention the size.
I am sorry to say that there is no vaccination for Hepatitis C. You might have vaccinated for Hepatitis A & B. Hepatitis C can cause Granuloma in the Liver.
Common causes are Sarcoidosis, Mycobacterial infections like Tuberculosis, Drug induced,Lymphoma etc.
The diagnosis is established by Biopsy of the lesion.
Treatment depends on the diagnosis. Most of the common causes respond to medical management.
So, do not worry.
Please consult a Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist, get examined and proceed accordingly.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
