Need more information for reaching at a conclusion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Although the serum amylase is increased in the report attached, it is not very high to deduce anything. I would like to know what your symptoms were before hand and what led you to the doctor. Also do you consume alcohol and smoke ? These informations would be helpful in planning your management. Waiting for your reply.

Brief Answer:
Not of much worry at this level.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX! Good evening. My regrets for the delay, as I was busy in the hospital.

As I told you this level of Amylase is not very high to relate it to your condition. However, I would advise you to get the test repeated along with serum lipase which is more specific. Till then, I would advise you to avoid eating from outside if you do. Your LFT is also normal as seen in the report. I would in addition advise you for a blood urea and serum creatinine. If all are normal, I would treat you symptomatically with a proton pump inhibitor, a probiotic, and an anti spasmodic drug for a symptomatic relief, along with some routine exercise programme for you. Add more of roughage and liquids in your diet. I might consider going for a recheck of the serum amylase and lipase value after aournd 4-6 months.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
