HI.
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read the message.

Your report shows its better than what you had before but the changes are still there.

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to your query as there is no detailed research on the subject. The opinion of most doctors is divided.

I will quote a report by The National Cancer Institute recently issued on cannabis and cannabinoids-the active ingredients in marijuana. It concluded that “At present, there is insufficient evidence to recommend inhaling Cannabis as a treatment for cancer-related symptoms or cancer treatment–related side effects.” Some relevant points included (largely from animal studies):
1. “Cannabinoids appear to kill tumor cells but do not affect their nontransformed counterparts and may even protect them from cell death.”
2. A mouse study suggested that cannabinoids may protect against inflammation in the colon.
3. Smoking marijuana may help with pain: “Two randomized controlled trials of inhaled Cannabis in patients with peripheral neuropathy or neuropathic pain of various [causes] found that pain was reduced in patients who received inhaled Cannabis, compared with those who received placebo.”
So using this information, one may recommend use of marijuana.

Having said that , animal studies are frequently inadequate for humans. There are other studies that have concluded that marijuana should be avoided.

All in all, I would recommend staying off marijuana, since as a doctor I do not find conclusive proof that marijuana can be used after pancreatitis.
Therefore , as of now, with a scan showing that the changes in pancreatitis persist, I would not recommend marijuana to you.

Best of luck, Dr Mittal

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for the response.
The changes are resolving.
But it takes time.
Hence you need to take care.
If you take care of the precautions, lifespan would be fine.
But you do need to take care as pancreatic diseases can recur.
Best of luck.

Hi
Thanks for your response.
I will come to you query directly.
As of now, I would recommend having regular balanced diets.
The diet should definitely not be skipped.
As for exercise, a moderate physical exercise is recommended, not strenuous exercise.
It is important for pancreatitis patients to eat
1. high protein and other lean protein sources,
2. nutrient-dense diets that include fruits, vegetables, whole grains,
3. low fat dairy.
4. Abstinence from alcohol and greasy or fried foods is important.
This helps in helps in preventing malnutrition and pain.
So, smoothies, milk shakes are not recommended.
And the fruits and veggies are actually recommended.
Best of luck, Dr Mittal
