Suggest Treatment For A Tender Spot On The Scalp

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: 3 days ago I felt a tender spot in the top of my scalp when I brushed my hair. Since then it seems like the area of tenderness has enlarged about the size of a quarter. I have had my husband and others to look at it and it may be a little red but difficult to see as I have thick hair. Yesterday, I noticed a small pea sized lymph node just below my ear ( tender to touch) this morning I had 2 more lymph nodes appear - ( also tender)under the other ear and at the back of my neck. I do not have fever. I am out of town and will return home on Wednesday. I have an appointment with my physician on Wednesday but wanted to know if I need to see someone before Wednesday and if there is anything I can do until then.
Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Need an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read the history and understood the concerns.
As per the history provided by you, it is better if you can get started on an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen as the start of the scalp lesion progressing to lymph node appearance indicate an active infection.
Earlier the better.
If you have left over antibiotic that suits you, you can get started or get a prescription from a Doctor.
I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
