Brief Answer:
takes 3 to 4 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

1. You can expect the friction induced lesion to heal in few days.. Keep the site clean and dry.

2. No, herpes blisters usually undergo morphological changes before they turn blisters. So there are dissimilarities between herpes and friction burns. However chances of getting infected with herpes could increase especially if you are sexually active or on contact with infected individuals.

3. In your case, I would suggest that you get back to the doctor if fever, spread of rash/blisters occurs.

If any further doubt's,get back to me.
Hope this helps.

Take care.

What do you mean by morphological changes? I was being intimate the other day and not even 12 hours later I got these bumps that hurt so bad, and it burns to urinate. The time frame doesn't match herpes nor does the look of the bumps. They're not blistery like. Just raised red and sore beyond belief.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Herpes classically present as clustered papulovesicular rash which turn into blisters and scab off. These are the morphological changes that I spoke off. However there are at times atypical presentation which are detected only after close examination. Hence a dermatologist examination is always necessary.

Your description of symptoms and the very short onset are more against herpes. Besides friction burns, other causes such as simple bacterial infection or even are remote possibility of benign warts should be considered.

I would suggest you seek a dermatologist help if acyclovir doesn't clear off those rashes. Further if there is oozing of flluid, local or distant spread of papulovesicular kind of rash with red background, pus formation, fever - these should be brought to your doctor's notice.
