Question: Hi
I am from XXXXXXX was bitten by a stray dog (very minor scratch) on my leg. I am not sure whether the dog had bitten me or just scratched my leg. I have taken Rabipur shots on the 0 , 3rd and 7th day. Since the 1st shot have been feeling feverish along with pain at the injection site. Today is the 14th day and I have mild fever and sore throat. After consultation , my doctor advised me not to go for rest of the shots i.e 14th and 28th as the stray dog is alive. Yet , I am confused whether I shoud take rest of the shots or not?

Brief Answer:
Stop the injections

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

First of all your injury is scratch and there is no mention whether you bled or not. So the reduces the chances of Rabies all together.

If you are observing the dog there is no need to get the Rabipur injections. If the dog is still alive there is no need to continue even if you had taken few shots earlier. You already have reaction to the unnecessary immunoglobulin got by the rabipur shots. They will soon fade away you will be alright.

Please be reassured go by what your doctor said.

It did not bleed, I had washed the affected area with soap and water thoroughly. After that the scratch turned into minor wound, I had applied bitadine solution on wound for 3 days and it got healed. After 2nd rabies dose I suffered from throat infection(not sure it was due to vaccination or some bacterial infection) I took 3 days course of Mahacef Cv but infection was not fully cured, I had taken 3rd dose on 7th day and since then I am having mild fever(100) intermittently which comes down after taking calpol.
Now I have been asked by doc to discontinue vaccination and take antibiotic Moxkind Cv.

Now I want to know that is my cough and fever a side affect of vaccination? Is it OK to take above mentioned antibiotic?

Note: I have a history reoccurring cough due high IGE count.

Cough could be due to previous related illness

Hi,

1)Cough and fever could be due to previous related illness where IgE count was high.
2) You can take the antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor.

3) Discontinue the vaccination.

I have been taking Moxikind CV as prescribed by the doctor for the illness mentioned in my previous query from 3 days. 2nd day the fever went high till 103 but now it has stuck between 99-100. Even after taking medicine for fever it doesn't come down to normal. (fever medicine - Dolo650)

As the fever is not coming down, I am confused whether I should change the medicine or continue with the same for few more days? Does the fever takes so long to come back to normal?

Brief Answer:
Temperature mentioned was kind enough and do not require medication

Detailed Answer:
I am extremely sorry for being late here. We were stuck in torrential rains and there was no network in my town.

The progress that you mentioned was satisfactory and I am sure you should be alright by now. You should not worry about temperature between 99-100. I suggest not to take DOLO or any fever medicine for this temperatures.

MOXIKIND CV and DOLO are really good and it really takes at least 72 hours time for the antibiotic like MOXIKIND to act. So by the time you receive my answer you shoudl be alright. Make sure that you be cautious on your work and diet schedule. Try to rest and do not indulge in binge eating or try eating only home food.

Hope this is helpful
