This is for my mother. Her mouth smells bad, she brushes and cleans her tongue regularly once a day and sometimes twice. but there is this strong smell all the time.

-Not having proper oral hygiene .
- Deposition of food debris( plaque , calculus )in subgingival areas of gums , interdental areas of tooth .
- Bacterial or fungal infection .
-Drug induced.
- Dry mouth .
- Respiratory tract infection .
- sinus problem .
- Liver or kidney diseases.
-Diet ( eating more milk products )
For this I will suggest you some home remedies to avoid bad breath :
- Brush your teeth twice daily using soft bristle brush .
- Use mouthwash regularly like listerine or Oraguard .
- Use waxed interdental floss to clean interdental areas of teeth .
-Do XXXXXXX warm saline rinses 2 to 3 times a day .
Your mother can do these home remedies at home ,if bad breath persists despite of aforementioned then consult dentist for Oral prophylaxis (Scaling and root planing ) .
