Brief Answer:
Use a gentle yet effective skin lightening product

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing back to us.

Since your skin would be sensitive therefore a product which is gentle yet effective would be the one to go for.

Since you have specifically asked for a product for skin dullness and one which improves glow therefore I would suggest that you try a product which goes by the name of 'Golite cream' manufactured by USV limited.
This cream contains skin lightening ingredients like PteroWhite, NanoBrite, SabiWhite, Licorice, Shuttle Kojic acid along with added UVA and UVB protection.
It is gentle yet effective. Apply it evenly on your face once in the morning and follow it up with a sunscreen, on daily basis.

Continue with Aziderm at night.

These products are effective yet safe for long term use unlike tenovate cream which you were using earlier, however, my advice to you would be to try these products only under supervision and guidance of your local dermatologist who would also be able to assess your concerns visually.

Systemic skin lightening agents like tranexamic acid, glutathione, L-cysteine peptide etc have become popular in recent years and are claimed to lighten the skin.
However, none have been adequately tested and there is no strong scientific evidence of efficacy. Moreover they can cause serious side effects like a drug reaction.
I don't usually advise glutathione pills in my patients.

Brief Answer:
Rx regarding redness, flare due to steroid withdrawl; hair fall; frizzy hair

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

The cream which I had suggested is for dark, dull patchy skin/ uneven skin tone. It is a skin lightening cream
I usually advice my patients to use it as a thin film all over face, once daily in morning, followed by a sunscreen.

Redness and flare on face is an expected event specially when the patient comes out of topical steroid abuse.
If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested Oral Doxycycline capsules for you, twice daily.
Doxycycline is an Oral antibacterial that is useful in inflammatory acne flare that usually accompanies topical steroid abuse.
Doxycycline, being an antiinflammatory also helps in reducing redness that usually accompanies acne flare.
You may also use clindamycin 1% gel, twice daily, specifically as a spot treatment for acne.

Therefore you routine should be as follows:

Morning: face wash with cetaphil cleansing lotion followed by Golite cream followed by sunscreen followed by clindamycin over active acne spots.

Evening: face wash with cetaphil followed by Aziderm followed by clindamycin 1% gel over acne spots.

Oral doxycycline should be taken twice daily i.e 12 hours apart, before or after meals.
Just like Aziderm and Golite cream, Oral doxycycline is also a prescription product and should always be taken under supervision and guidance of a dermatologist.
Therefore I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your vicinity. Rather than doxycycline your dermatologist may choose to prescribe a different antibiotic e.g Azithromycin or Minocycline.

Rather than a soap you may use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g cetaphil cleansing lotion, twice daily.

Since you have a history of pcod, probably that is the reason behind your hair loss/ decreased hair density.
Pcod patients usually present with acne, hirsutism and hair fall/ progressively decreased hair volume
Specific treatment for pcod includes monthly Oral hormonal pills so as to correct the hormonal imbalance that accompanies pcod.
This is usually started after a discussion with doctor and after a lab test for circulating blood hormone levels i.e Serum Testosterone, Serum DHEAS levels etc. The pills may need to be continued for 6-12 months.

Besides this, I would suggest that you also use minoxidil 2% scalp solution, 1ml, twice daily, at scalp skin. Minoxidil is a non-specific hair growth promoter. You need to use it for a few months for noticeable results.

For dry and frizzy hair, I suggest that you use a good conditioner e.g L'oreal Or Dove conditioner. Avoid frequent combing. Frequent combing causes trauma to hair and makes them frizzy.
You may do oiling for 2 hours prior to shampoo and thereafter use a conditioner after shampoo.

Brief Answer:
Would be able to help better after having a look at Images

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Steroid induced side effects like thinning, redness, sensitvity, acne and hirsutism take time to recover. You won't see changes overnight. Rather it may take weeks to reverse side effects of steroid abuse.

It is important that you help your skin on the pathway to recovery by addressing your concerns in line with advice from a dermatologist.

Acne and redness would improve greatly with Oral antibiotics like Doxycycline and topical antiacne antibacterials like clindamycin, nadifloxacin.
These should produce noticeable improvements in about 2-4 weeks in acne and redness.

Dark skin and uneven tone would take more time. It is important that you protect your skin from sun and use a sunscreen, regularly, throughout the day.
A gentle pigment reducing cream, once daily e.g those I had suggested earlier (i.e Azaleic acid and Golite cream) would help reduce pigment and improve tone.

I would be able to guide you better if you can upload a few Images of the specific areas of concerns on your face.

You may upload an Image either at "Reports Section"

Or

You may mail me Images at YYYY@YYYY with the subject line of this mail as Attn:Dr.Kakkar.
