I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that TIA stands for transitory ischemic attack and is a temporary dysfunction of a certain region in the brain, leading to temporary neurological symptoms, which can last minutes, up to an hour.

There is a score, which helps physicians to stratify the risk for stroke for every patient based on several individual characteristics (blood pressure, age, diabetes, duration of symptoms, etc.). This is called ABCD2 score.

Based on this score, you are at a low risk for possible stroke. (Your total risk of stroke in the next 90 days after the last TIA is up to 3%).

Anyway, further investigations need to be done to investigate for the possible causes (cervical vessels narrowing or cardiac causes).

I recommend consulting with your doctor and performing some tests, besides a careful physical examination:

- a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound
- Doppler ultrasound of the cervical vessels
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring
- some blood lab tests (complete blood count, fasting glucose, blood electrolytes, blood lipid profile, kidney and liver function tests).

A brain MRI would help exclude possible small strokes in your brain (TIA usually do not cause brain ischemic lesions).

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
