Posted on Wed, 8 Oct 2014
Question: Hi, I have diagnosed with PCOS 2 months ago. Doctor suggested me to take Siphene 50 Mg tablet from the 3rd day of my period for 3 times a day for 5 days. But I missed to take tablet on morning and afternoon from the 3rd day of my period i.e., Yesterday on 15.09.2014. So, please suggest me when to take those tablets which I have missed to take and is there is any problem further.

Brief Answer:
Take as directed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Is this the first time you are using this table / How many cycles did you take siphene before? Have you taken siphene 100mg in the previous cycles? Was there follicular maturation with it? These are few questions that I would like you to answer to help you further.

Usually siphene is started at 100mg or 50mg twice daily and see for follicular development. If there is no follicular development, then it is increased to 150mg. Hope this was the protocol followed.

In your case, since you have missed two tablets on day 3 , I will suggest you to continue the rest of tablet thrice daily as directed by your doctor till seventh day and take the two tablets missed on day 3 on eighth day morning and afternoon. If you have any symptoms like abdominal distension, bloating, vomiting you need to consult your doctor. Follicular study need to be done from day 11 and repeat every alternate day till follicle size reaches 20mm. Have intercourse in and around this time. A repeat scan need to be done to see the signs of ovulation. Post ovulatory period you may need have to take duphaston for 10 days for luteal phase support.
You can discuss about the other medication with your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your queries. Feel free to ask any doubts.. Good day.

Hi Doctor.....

Thanks for answering my querry.

I came to notice that, I have taken Siphene 100 MG tablet for previous cycle (Previous month). After this cycle, I consult a doctor and he has informed me that, they will increase the dosage as there is no ovaluation. So for this month onwards I am taking 50 MG tablet for 3 times a day i.e., total 150 MG per day.

I want to know what is follicular maturation?

By this also ovaluation does not happened is next treatment is insulin? In this disease do we feel to sleep a lot I mean over sleep?

Please suggest me the solution to reduct the weight and I dont have any medical issues other than this issue. My age is 24 and the weight is 65. Further, as per the advice of the doctor I joined for gym. Now I m going regularly for the gym.

Feel free to call at +91-0000 if does not understand my querry.

Hi,
Thanks for writing..

In each cycle one follicle from one ovary grows and reaches 20mm. That is follicular maturation. After that ovulation occurs and ovum is picked up by fallopian tube, fertilisation occurs here and reaches uterine cavity.

Insulin is for controlling diabetes not for ovulation. Next treatment is by giving FSH from 2nd day of period for 5-6 days and monitor follicular development. Excessive weight gain can cause sleepiness. PCOS doesnot have that problem.

You need to reduce your weight. Your height in cm minus 100 gives your estimates weight. for eg: if your ht is 154cm, your wt should be around 54 kg..
Diet control by reducing fatty food and fried items and including lots of friuts and vegetables in your diet.
Have food on correct time 3 meals .
Reduce the quantity of food. Avoid snacks.
Regular exercise for 30 min in gym.

Hope I have answered your query. If no doubts please close the conversation and rate my answer. Good day..
